A Missed Opportunity?
HyperLaw have recently conducted some independent research into the hidden costs of producing case files.
The research was conducted via an arms length Market Research Company and it engaged over 200 Solicitors across varying sizes of law Firm and many differing specialties.
The research brief was highly structured and the objective was to test the extent to which individual Legal Professionals truly understood the cost of compiling lever arch files, and more importantly the aborted time costs of then trying to handle such files manually.
The outcomes were quite staggering though in the main, not unsurprising? In short high value thinking time for case compilation is completely compromised by a lack of cutting edge technology tools and the inability to quickly and cost effectively build a digital case file platform.
So, the notion that there are many and varied systems available in the market place was confirmed, the fact that none of them fully combine to support the high cost, high value thinking time of Fee earners was similarly confirmed. Add to that a healthy sprinkling of respondents who had little or no technology support whatsoever and the IT landscape looks like a pretty exciting place to be.
In short the conclusions were quite profound – evidentially clear and consistent missed opportunities to rationalise professional time costs, improve the outcomes of legal advice in the main provide a solution to securing some real missed opportunities in the Legal market place.
